VP Pence protest the protesters
Today Vice President Mike Pence staged a walk out of the Indianapolis Colts versus San Francisco game protesting players that are protesting injustices.
Vice President stated he, “Stands with the President” and “will not dignify any event that disrespects our soldiers, our Flag or our National Anthem.”
More than 20 players from the 49ers knelt with their hand over their hearts while their teammates stood behind them with their hand over their heart.
Eric Reid, safety for the 49ers, felt this was all staged. He (VP Mike Pence) “Knew our team has had the most players protest. He knew that we were probably going to do it again .This is what systemic oppression looks like. Man with power comes to the game, tweets a couple of things out and leaves the game in an attempt to thwart our efforts. Based on the information I have, that’s the assumption I made.”
In terms of truly bringing the country was this a missed opportunity by Vice President Pence and the (Donald) Trump administration. Although President Trump applauded and encouraged the walk out, couldn’t more have been accomplished by Pence waiting until after the game and requesting to speak to the players to listen first hand what they are protesting?
Getting to the root of the situation, conversing and sharing possible remedies seems like the best things to do.
Until both sides sit down and have an open dialogues, both sides will grow further and further apart. We will have players protesting and leaders protesting the protesters.
