Phillies send David Robertson to IL
The Philadelphia Phillies 3-1 win over the Miami Marlins on Sunday came may seem to have come with a price.
After throwing two scoreless innings in the 15-inning affair, reliever David Robertson was placed on the 10-day injured list on Monday with soreness in his pitching elbow.
Robertson, 34, has a 5.40 ERA in seven appearances in his first season with the Phillies. He signed a two-year, $23 million contract with Philadelphia this past offseason to be the teams closer.
Philadelphia recalled 25-year-old right-handed pitcher Drew Anderson from Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Monday in a corresponding roster move. He made an instant impact by throwing two innings in relief with two strikeouts and zero earned runs in the Phillies 7-6 extra-inning loss to the New York Mets on Monday.
Phillies manager Gabe Kapler told reporters before the game that “Drew will most likely be length for us.
