Philadelphia Eagles no longer welcomed at The White House
The Philadelphia Eagles are the latest sports team disinvited to the White House because of their stance against social issues and not kind words for President Donald Trump.
Trump sent a statement that said The Super Bowl Champions disagree “with their President because he insists that they proudly stand for the National Anthem, hand on heart, in honor of the great men and women of our military and the people of our country.” Instead it will be a Celebration of America, “One that will honor our great country, pay tribute to the heroes who fight to protect it, and loudly and proudly play the National Anthem.”
Although Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie, head coach Doug Pederson and several others Eagles players planed on attending, they were notified the day before, they would not be welcomed.
Chris Long and Malcolm Jenkins, two Eagles players had previously stated they would not attend.
Jenkins had said “It’s a celebratory event and I don’t I don’t want the guys who choose to goor whatever to enjoy that”.
It seems as though some were able to be the bigger person for the good of all.
