Cuban Cowboy Podcast: An interview with Marlins prospect Jordan Holloway

Sorry if you could barely hear me but at least you hear all of him.

In this installment of the no-budget Cuban Cowboy Podcast, I talk to Miami Marlins pitching prospect Jordan Holloway.

Holloway is currently rated the Marlins’ 14th ranked prospect, according to MLB Pipeline. We talked about growing up in Colorado, getting used to altitude, recovering from Tommy John and becoming a Floridian, like me.

Holloway was drafted in the 20th round of the 2014 MLB Draft and has the potential to be the Marlins biggest Draft steal in recent history. He gave up a commitment to Nebraska-Omaha to sign for well over slot at $400,000. Tommy John surgery in June 2017 sidelined him for most of 2018, but he forged a bond with fellow pitcher Braxton Garrett (also a pod guest), who was also rehabbing.

Holloway found his way into the Marlins impressed enough during five brief Minor League appearances and instructional league to claim a spot on the 40-man roster.

Holloway is pitching in the Single-A Florida State League as a member of the Jupiter Hammerheads, with hopes of spending the entire season healthy.
