Cuban Cowboy Podcast: An interview with Marlins prospect Braxton Garrett
In this installment of the no-budget Cuban Cowboy Podcast, I talk to Miami Marlins pitching prospect Braxton Garrett.
Garrett became the highest-drafted Alabama high school player since Condredge Holloway went fourth overall in 1971. He gave up a Vanderbilt scholarship to sign for $4,145,900 as the No. 7 choice in the 2016 MLB Draft.
He made just four starts in his 2017 pro debut before undergoing Tommy John surgery and missing all of last season. We talked about his recovery and the bond he made with fellow injured prospect, Jordan Holloway.
Right now, Garrett is the best pitcher on the Jupiter Hammerheads. He is currently rated as the Marlins 7th best prospect by MLB Pipeline.
We talked about ping pong, his upbringing in Alabama, the draft process and more.
