Chiefs cut Hunt
First the NFL puts Kareem Hunt on the commissioner exempt list and then he was quickly cut shortly thereafter by the Kansas City Chiefs after TMZ released a video of Hunt striking kicking a woman in February.
The Chiefs stated that even though they new of the incident, that did not lead to any arrest, Hunt was not truthful in the severity of his actions.
Hunt was sent home earlier Friday by the Chiefs when the video first came out.
By being placed on the list, Hunt will not be allowed participate in any football activities if he’s signed by another team until a full investigation is complete and a decision is made on his punishment.
Hunt Stated, “I deeply regret what I did. I hope to move on from this.”
Hunt led the NFL in rushing last season as a rookie with 1,327 yards and added eight touchdowns. So far this year he has 824 yards and seven touchdowns in eleven games.
In a statement the Chiefs said, “The National Football League and law enforcement initiated investigations into the issue. As part of our internal discussions with Kareem, several members of our management team spoke directly with him. Kareem was not truthful in those discussions. The video released today confirms that fact. We are releasing Kareem immediately.”
Both NFL and the Chiefs stated they were not aware of the TMZ video.
