Cardinals re-sign P Butler to PS; release Tupou

TEMPE, Ariz. — Who says the bye week is quiet? Not for the Arizona Cardinals it’s not.

Just one day after releasing punter Drew Butler from the 53-man roster to make room for running back Marion Grice, the team re-signs Butler to the practice squad. The Cardinals released defensive tackle Christian Tupou in order to make Butler fit on the 10-man practice squad roster.

Butler was signed mere hours before the Cardinals season opener on Sept. 8 against the San Diego Chargers to punt for an injured Dave Zastudil. Butler’s punted in all three of the Cardinals regular season games. In those games, Butler’s punted nine times for 431 yards (47.9 yard avg). Two of those kicks landed inside the 20-yard line.
