Cardinals bring back DT Gaston; release Parmele
TEMPE, Ariz. — A familiar face returns to the Cardinals in defensive tackle Bruce Gaston. The team announced the return of Gaston on Wednesday. In order to make space for Gaston on the 53-man roster, running back Jalen Parmele was let go.
Gaston comes back to the Cardinals after spending time on the Dolphins practice squad. Gaston spent the preseason with the Cardinals after joining them as an undrafted rookie free agent out of Purdue. Gaston was part of the team’s final roster cut on August 30.
Gaston was claimed off waivers by the Patriots, then subsequently waived on September 3 and picked up by the Dolphins, where he was inactive for the first two games of the season. Gaston was released by the Dolphins on September 20 and re-signed to their practice squad.
Gaston will wear jersey #75.
Head coach Bruce Arians had thoughts of having Parmele primarily as a short-yardage back and a goal-line back, but it didn’t work that way this past Sunday against the 49ers. Parmele had one carry – on a 3rd-and-1 in the first quarter – and couldn’t convert. That would prove to be his only carry of the game.
