We are approaching the crucial part of the college football season were teams are fighting in a desperate struggle to reach the ultimate redeemer; bowl eligibility. Who will survive and advance?

AAC: Temple, South Florida, Cincinnati, Houston, Navy, Memphis

Playing for a bowl

UCONN (5-5)

Point differential: +7

Remaining opponents: Houston, at Temple

BOWL or NO BOWL? NO BOWL! UCONN has shown a lot of noble improvement since the early days of the post Randy Edsel era. Sadly, the Huskies are taking on the undefeated Houston Cougars and Temple. This is not their year.

Tulsa (5-5)

Point differential: -38

Remaining opponents: Navy, at Tulane

BOWL or NO BOWL? BOWL! Taking on Navy for the first time has been a seamlessly impossible task for everyone in the AAC but they should be able to handle Tulane. As unspectacular Tulsa is, Tulane is 1-5 in conference and has a point differential of -109. They should make their first bowl appearance since winning their old conference (C-USA) in 2012.

East Carolina (4-6)

Point differential: -18

Remaining opponents: at Central Florida, Cincinnati

BOWL or NO BOWL? NO BOWL! It’s an uphill battle for East Carolina. Central Florida is still searching his first win while certain bar goes bankrupt. Cincinnati has the highest scoring offense in the AAC so it looks like that’s where the road ends.

ACC: Clemson, Florida State, Louisville, NC State, North Carolina, Pitt, Miami, Duke

Playing for a Bowl

Virginia Tech (5-5)

Point differential: +17

Remaining opponents: North Carolina, at Virginia

BOWL or NO BOWL? BOWL! The fate of their 22-year bowl streak rest in Frank Beamer’s final regular season game, a rivalry at Virginia.

Big 12: Ok State, Oklahoma, TCU, Baylor, Texas Tech

Playing for a Bowl

Texas (4-6)

Point differential: -28

Remaining opponents: Texas Tech, at Baylor

BOWL or NO BOWL? NO BOWL!  They have no chance against Texas Tech or Baylor.

West Virginia (5-4)

Point differential: -58

Remaining opponents: at Kansas, vs Iowa State, at Kansas State

BOWL or NO BOWL? BOWL! Scheduling has West Virginia perfectly set up. They should be able to handle Kansas like everyone else in the Big 12. If they were to somehow lose that game, they have Iowa State. Should that go wrong then there’s Kansas State who is winless in the Big 12. And if they lose that, then they’re bleep out of luck.

Kansas State (3-6)

Point differential: -100

Remaining opponents: Iowa State, at Kansas, West Virginia

BOWL or NO BOWL? NO BOWL! Don’t let the three wins fool you. Kansas State has lost every game in their conference this season. Bill Snyder is running out of envelopes for apology letters.

Big Ten: Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State, Iowa, Wisconsin, Northwestern

Playing for a Bowl

Indiana (4-6)

Point differential: -73

Remaining opponents: at Maryland, at Purdue

BOWL or NO BOWL? BOWL! I said Indiana was going bowling this season from the start and I’m not wavering! Predictably, their offense is good but their defense is horrible. While they’re winless in the Big Ten, They should be able to beat equally dreadful Maryland and Purdue.

Nebraska (5-6)

Point differential: +26

Remaining opponents: Iowa

BOWL or NO BOWL? NO BOWL! They’re not beating Iowa.

Illinois (5-5)

Point differential: -49

Remaining opponents: at Minnesota, at Northwestern

BOWL or NO BOWL? NO BOWL! Not being at home hurts them dearly. They could beat Minnesota but Northwestern can’t be their last chance.

Minnesota (4-6)

Point differential: -44

Remaining opponents: Illinois, Wisconsin

BOWL or NO BOWL? NO BOWL! Illinois is highly winnable but Wisconsin’s defense brings them to reality.

C-USA: Western Kentucky, Marshall, Louisiana Tech, Southern Mississippi,

Playing for a Bowl

Middle Tennessee (5-5)

Point differential: +18

Remaining opponents: North Texas, at UTSA

BOWL or NO BOWL? BOWL! Hosting North Texas is like gift wrapping them bowl eligibility.

Old Dominion (5-5)

Point differential: -56

Remaining opponents: at Southern Miss, Florida Atlantic

BOWL or NO BOWL? BOWL! Southern Miss has turned the corner this season but hosting Florida Atlantic gives them the most probable chance.

FIU (5-6)

Point differential: +2

Remaining opponents: Western Kentucky

BOWL or NO BOWL? NO BOWL! As an FIU fan, I wish they could pull off the upset and reach the bowls for the first time since 2011. They blew their chance when they lost to rival Florida Atlantic.

Independents: Notre Dame, BYU

MAC: Bowling Green, Ohio, Toledo, NIU, Western Michigan

Playing for a Bowl

Buffalo (5-5)

Point differential: -24

Remaining opponents: at Akron, Massachusetts

BOWL or NO BOWL? BOWL! Massachusetts was supposed to turn the corner this year. Luckily for Buffalo, we were wrong.

Akron (5-5)

Point differential: -20

Remaining opponents: Buffalo, Kent State

BOWL or NO BOWL? BOWL! Facing Buffalo is pick em, but the punchless Kent State gives Akron hope.

Central Michigan (5-5)

Point differential: +63

Remaining opponents: at Kent State, Eastern Michigan

BOWL or NO BOWL? BOWL! Besides the face that they are the only team among the three bowl contenders who score more than allow, they play Kent State and 1-10 Eastern Michigan.

Mountain West: Air Force, Boise State, New Mexico, San Diego State, Nevada

Playing for a Bowl

San Jose State (4-6)

Point differential: -1

Remaining opponents: at Hawaii, Boise State

BOWL or NO BOWL? NO BOWL! They can beat Hawaii, but not Boise State.

Colorado State (5-5)

Point differential: -22

Remaining opponents: at New Mexico, at Fresno State

BOWL or NO BOWL? BOWL! New Mexico is good now but Fresno State is not.

Utah State (5-5)

Point differential: +72

Remaining opponents: Nevada, BYU

BOWL or NO BOWL? BOWL! Both Nevada and BYU are even match ups but they should be able to win at least one of them.

Pac-12: Stanford, Oregon, Washington State, California, Utah, USC, UCLA, Arizona

Playing for a Bowl

Washington (4-6)

Point differential: -1

Remaining opponents:at Oregon State, Washington State

BOWL or NO BOWL? NO BOWL! Oregon State is horrible but the Apple Cup will go to Washington State.

Arizona State (5-5)

Point differential: -14

Remaining opponents: Arizona, at California

BOWL or NO BOWL? BOWL! Arizona will avenge their foolish student newspaper but the Sun Devils will close the deal at California.

SEC: Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, LSU, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Texas A&M, Miss State

Playing for a Bowl

Vanderbilt (4-6)

Point differential: -28

Remaining opponents: Texas A&M, at Tennessee

BOWL or NO BOWL? NO BOWL! Vanderbilt’s defense is one of the best kept secrets in college football. It’s easy to keep it a secret when their offense scores an average of 16 points per game.

Kentucky (4-6)

Point differential: -81

Remaining opponents: Charlotte, Louisville

BOWL or NO BOWL? NO BOWL! Kentucky hosts Charlotte but Louisville is on a grove and the last time the Cardinals lost to Kentucky was in 2010.

Missouri (5-5)

Point differential: -36

Remaining opponents: Tennessee, at Arkansas

BOWL or NO BOWL? NO BOWL! Missouri is 1-5 in SEC play with a backup quarterback — only because they banished the starter to oblivion. They’re just like Vanderbilt; give up nothing but score nothing too. Their best chance is against Tennessee at home this week.

Auburn (5-5)

Point differential: -36

Remaining opponents: Idaho, Alabama

BOWL or NO BOWL? BOWL!  Lucky for them they host Idaho this week. They have a balanced but mediocre offense and the same can be said about their defense. They do feature a fine running back in sophomore Peyton Barber (828 yards, 12 touchdowns).

Sun Belt: Arkansas State, Appalachian State, Georgia Southern

Playing for a Bowl

South Alabama (5-4)

Point differential: -16

Remaining opponents: at Georgia State, at Georgia Southern, Appalachian State

BOWL or NO BOWL? BOWL! If they beat Georgia State. They play the top two teams in the conference so if they don’t win this week, they’ll likely lose out.

Georgia State (3-6)

Point differential: -26

Remaining opponents: Southern Alabama, Troy, at Georgia Southern

BOWL or NO BOWL? NO BOWL! The Georgia State passing game gives them a shot against South Alabama and Troy but Georgia Southern will keep them out.

Louisiana (4-5)

Point differential: +13

Remaining opponents: New Mexico State, at Appalachian State, Troy

BOWL or NO BOWL? BOWL! The Ragin Cajuns should be able to take care of New Mexico State and Troy at home. Beating the Aggies this week will be crucial because they can’t pin their bowl hopes on beating App State.
