Bonner dealt to Sun

In 2009 the Phoenix Mercury drafted DeWanna Bonner and in the 10 years as a member of the Mercury she helped them to titles in 2009 and 2014. Today, however, she was traded to the Connecticut Sun for draft picks.
Bonner a lifetime 14.4 ppg scorer for the Mercury was a 3-time All-Star as well.
“We drafted DeWanna in 2009, and together we won championships in 2009 and 2014,” said Mercury General Manager Jim Pitman. “We watched as she became a Sixth Woman of the Year, All-Star, All-WNBA player, and most importantly a mother. Ultimately, she has decided the next stage of her career does not include us and we wish her the best. She and her daughters, Cali and Demi, will always remain a part of the Mercury family.”
Officially, Bonner was dealt for three first round draft picks. The sign-and-trade deal will see the Mercury receive the Sun’s recently-acquired No. 7 overall pick in the 2020 WNBA Draft (from Seattle), along with this year’s No. 10 overall pick and a future first-round pick from Connecticut.
