Amar’e Stoudemire says he would avoid a gay teammate
Former NBA star Amar’e Stoudemire decided to state that he would avoid a gay teammate if he know they were gay.
In an interview Walla Sport, an Israeli website, Stoudemire stated, “I’m going to shower across the street, make sure my change of clothes are around the corner.” He then added, “And I’m going to drive — take a different route to the gym.”
When asked if he was serious, he said, “I mean, there’s always a truth within a joke.”
Stoudemire, who had a very good career in the NBA with both the Phoenix Suns and New York Knicks, was once fined $50,000 following a gay slur that he tweeted during the offseason of 2012.
Stoudemire is currently playing for Hapoel Jerusalem in the Israeli Premier League.
